A couple years ago, God began to speak to us about the future of this church and what our signature calling would be. Or in other words what we would be known by. To put it simply, what our name would be. So we started to talk about it and pray about it and dream about it. And for a couple years now we have had this new name, this new brand, in our hearts and minds just waiting on the right time to go all in with it. And we feel like the time is here.

This church was founded in 1999 under the name Washington Christian Life Center, then in 2007, it took on the name The Life Church. That name change really launched us into a new season of growth and influence as a church. And for the last 13 years thousands of people have had their lives changed, and marriages restored, and faith rekindled under this name.

In the Bible God would use name changes to mark significant pivotal moments. You have Abram and Sarai to Abraham and Sarah. Jacob to Israel. From Simon to Peter. Jacob renamed Luz to Bethel. These names represent new futures, they represent something significant. They aren’t just a brand. They are a mark of God on their lives. We truly believe that what God is doing is he is putting a new mark on us. A new mark, or name, representing a new level of anointing. A new level of influence for this house.

The power of the new name lies in the power of the word itself, and the concept behind it. The standout, single one thing that is supposed to characterize the church of Jesus Christ is the way we love each other. So the new name of this church is really who we are as Christians and what we are called to do.

Over the last few years of preaching and ministry one of the verses that have always come back around, and used so many times, is this verse:

We keep coming back to this concept that the only way people can see God, the only way for an invisible God to be made visible, is through a LOVE that the world doesn’t have the ability to give. Spirit filled, selfless, Christlike, Agape LOVE. When we LOVE each other. People see God. When we LOVE each other, we identify ourselves as HIS disciples. When we LOVE each other we are following the greatest commandment of Jesus.

And so we are excited to let you know that this fall we take on a new name, a new brand, and a new season. Our heart remains the same, but our name is changing.

Effective October 4th, 2020, our new name will be:
